The Hidden Answer

“You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit.”
How many of you heard this when you were younger?

Jesus tells us this in John 14:27,
“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Something that I believe that is very common between the strongest believers, and those who do not believe at all, is the yearn and need to see God.

Some may be confident that He is there, and some may not believe that there is anyone there, at all.
No matter where you stand, I believe that there is always a curiosity.

Does God really show Himself or is it all faith and imagination?

I hear stories all the time about God showing Himself.
And to be quiet honest, I had never experienced it.
Sure, God answered prayers.
But did I ever really mean it when I gave him the credit?
There was always part of me, that believed it was a coincidence.

I have always been a Christian.
So I am sure you can imagine my struggle, after 19 years of never truly feeling the Lord’s presence.
Do you know how many times that I have sat there and begged God to show me something. Anything.
19 years of, “God I am ready. Show me.”
And nothing.

Until June of 2019.

I told y’all a story on my first blog post.
And I told y’all that I felt God.
But I’m not sure if y’all know a few things about this encounter with the Lord…
  1. This had never happened.
  2. I did not hear his voice, like I imagined.
  3. I did not know it was happening, when it did.

I had no idea that God spoke to me, until about 10 days later.
The interns asked me what I learned about my trip, and I just started taking about the Lord.
I had no idea where it was coming from!!!
They were thoughts that I had not had.
But they all made sense, and all came together.

So I guess that the reason that I am writing about this, is to encourage us to except what we get.
Because we ask.
And we receive.
But when we are presented with an unexpected outcome,
we like to believe that God is wrong, or that He has something against us.

Maybe consider the idea that he is just trying to show himself.
Maybe If we just take everything, and give Him the opportunity, He will.
We may not like it.
We may love it.
But remember, we cannot see God if our eyes are not open.
God has been working on us since before we were born.
He is leaving it up to us, to see Him when we choose.
So maybe take that risk…
Allow Him to answer our questions.
Those questions that the non believers have,
Are the same questions that the strongest believers have.
But guess what?
Our Heavenly Father has all the answers.

I still have more questions that I could count.
But I had my moment, with God.
And all I want is for you to have your moment.

And for us all to have them over, and over again.

I returned from Uganda a one month ago, today.
I wanted to thank the people pictured here, for making the impact that you did, and for challenging me to seek the Lord in hidden places.
