Our Unseen Mission
Transition
Change is inevitable.
What about those moments in the midst of the change?
The transition.
Where all that we know is to go with what we are familiar with and hope for the best.
But have you ever thought that maybe our worst moments are leading us in the same directions as our best moments?
If we look back at some of our lowest moments, we come to realize that they have shaped us into who we are today.
If we are in the midst of change, we are probably wondering how we could be made better from this.
I met someone this summer, who was a perfect example of trusting the transition,
although she will never know the impact that she had on my life during our time together.
Meet Esther,
Esther was dropped off at the police station in Uganda, and we only have a guess on her age.
She is deaf and cannot speak.
She is blind in one eye.
And she is believed to have been starved as a child.
She is on the constant hunt for food, and will search until she has some in front of her.
Through all of this, she is one of the most loving people that I have ever known.
She may not know it,
but she is changing the lives of everyone that she encounters.
I can promise you that she has every reason to not have this smile on her face,
but that smile had the power to transform my life.
This is Esther just two weeks after she made it to Sozo.
This was my first day in Uganda.
In this moment, I had no idea that Esther was about to change my life forever.
She fell asleep in my arms.
And this was rare for Esther.
I was a stranger in her new home.
This was before I knew her story, and before I knew my mission.
I thought my mission was in my future,
But my mission began the moment Esther placed trust in me.
God knew that my mission was going to start much sooner.
My mission is every day.
This is not our life to have figured out.
We will not always know where we are headed.
We are supposed to trust in the Lord.
We are supposed to have faith.
Not just when it is easy,
But especially when it is the last thing that we want to do.
When we have faith,
Everything is right.
Because faith means trusting God,
Even when we want to take another path.
And God is our path and our destination.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory
that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not what is seen, but is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen and eternal."
